Saber Alter is the corrupted form of Artoria Pendragon — the King of Knights — after she is consumed by the Shadow in the Heaven's Feel route of Fate/stay night. Blackened by the mud of the Greater Grail, she abandons her ideals, serves Sakura Matou, and wields a darkened Excalibur known as Excalibur Morgan. She is stronger than base Saber in raw output, and considerably crueller.

Who Is Saber Alter? Artoria Pendragon Alter Explained
Saber Alter is not a separate character. She is Artoria Pendragon — the same Servant who appears as Saber in Fate/stay night and Fate/Zero — after something has gone badly wrong with her.
Understanding her requires understanding what she was first. In the Fate universe, King Arthur was born a girl. Uther Pendragon, fearing that Britain would never accept a queen, concealed his daughter's sex and placed her in the care of Sir Ector. She drew the sword from the stone, stopped aging at fifteen, and ruled as a king who was never permitted to be a person. Every human need she had was set aside in service of the realm. That total self-denial is the foundation of her character — and it is precisely what the corruption inverts.
The "Alter" concept, and where it came from
An Alter Servant is a Heroic Spirit whose buried, destructive traits have been pulled to the surface — the same person, with the restraint removed. The idea originated with Artoria herself. Kinoko Nasu wanted players reaching the Heaven's Feel route to be genuinely shocked, and Takashi Takeuchi wanted a darkened Artoria as an antagonist. The team settled on the word "Alter" for a practical reason: the more obvious label, "Dark Saber", simply did not sound right.
Every later Alter in the franchise — Jeanne Alter, Meltryllis, Okita Alter and the rest — descends from that one design decision.
Artoria, Altria or Arturia? The name confusion, settled
You will see her name spelled several ways across official products, and all of them are legitimate. The confusion comes from Japanese romanisation, not from different characters.
| Spelling | Where it appears | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Artoria | Most modern English localisations, TYPE-MOON Wiki, recent merchandise | Current standard |
| Altria | Fate/Grand Order English release, older guides, some figure packaging | Official, widely used |
| Arturia | Early fan translations and 2000s-era merchandise | Legacy spelling |
| Arthuria | Rare, mostly older fan material | Uncommon variant |
Searching "alter saber" rather than "saber alter" returns the same character too — the word order is interchangeable in casual use, though "Saber Alter" is the correct class-name form.
Saber Alter is not Altera — these are different characters
No, Altera is not Saber Alter. Altera is Attila the Hun, a Saber-class Servant with an entirely separate origin, appearance and Noble Phantasm. Saber Alter is a corrupted Artoria Pendragon. The two share four letters and a class, and nothing else.
This mix-up is common enough that Google surfaces it on Saber Alter searches. If you have seen a white-haired Servant in a black dress wielding a sword called Photon Ray, that is Altera. Saber Alter is blonde-haired and pale, in full plate armour, with a black sword.
Saber Alter vs the other Artoria variants
Fate/Grand Order has given Artoria a great many alternate forms, and several of them are also Alters. Here is how to tell them apart at a glance.
| Variant | Class | Key weapon | How she differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saber (base Artoria) | Saber | Excalibur | The uncorrupted King of Knights. Blonde, blue-and-silver armour, blue dress. |
| Saber Alter | Saber | Excalibur Morgan | Corrupted by the Shadow. Paler skin and hair, black-and-purple armour, red trim, yellow eyes. |
| Lancer Alter | Lancer | Rhongomyniad | A different corruption path entirely — the Lion King's lance-wielding form, not the Heaven's Feel version. |
| Santa Alter | Rider | Excalibur Morgan (festive) | A comedic Christmas event variant of Saber Alter, complete with reindeer. |
| Artoria Lily | Saber | Caliburn | Artoria as a young knight, before the throne. |
| Altera | Saber | Photon Ray | Not an Artoria variant at all. Attila the Hun, included here because searchers routinely confuse her with Saber Alter. |
Why Did Saber Become Alter? The Corruption Explained
Saber became Alter after being devoured by the Shadow — the physical manifestation of the corrupted Greater Grail, tainted by the curse of Angra Mainyu, "All the World's Evil". The blackened mud rewrote her from the inside, severed her contract with Shirou Emiya, and bound her to Sakura Matou. What emerged was Artoria with her restraint stripped away.
Spoiler warning: the rest of this section covers major plot events from the Heaven's Feel route and the Heaven's Feel film trilogy. Skip to How strong is Saber Alter? if you have not finished it.
The corruption chain, step by step
- The Greater Grail is already poisoned. Sixty years before the Fifth Holy Grail War, the Third War ended with Angra Mainyu — the embodiment of all human evil — being drawn into the Grail system. Every wish granted by the Grail since then has been filtered through that curse.
- Sakura Matou becomes the vessel. Through Zouken Matou's manipulation and years of abuse, Sakura is made into the physical container for the Grail's contents.
- The Shadow begins to feed. The corruption manifests as a black mass that roams Fuyuki at night, consuming Masters and Servants and absorbing their power.
- Saber is consumed. Weakened and separated from Shirou, Artoria is caught by the Shadow and pulled under. The mud floods her Spirit Origin.
- Saber Alter emerges. She is reborn under Sakura's control, no longer bound by her contract with Shirou, no longer bound by the ideals that defined her reign.

Sakura Matou's role
Saber Alter's power is inseparable from her Master. An ordinary magus can barely sustain a Servant of Saber's calibre — Shirou struggles with it throughout the route. Sakura, fused with the Greater Grail, has effectively unlimited prana on tap.
This is why Saber Alter can use her Noble Phantasm repeatedly where base Saber must ration every activation. It is not that the corruption made her sword sharper. It is that it plugged her into a power supply with no meter on it.
The exact moment it happens
| Format | Where | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Visual novel | Fate/stay night, Heaven's Feel route | The third and final route. Not reachable until you have completed Fate and Unlimited Blade Works. |
| Film | Heaven's Feel I. presage flower (2017) | Saber is consumed near the end of the first film; the transformation is the closing beat. |
| Film | Heaven's Feel II. lost butterfly (2019) | Saber Alter's first full showing as an active antagonist, including the Berserker fight. |
| Film | Heaven's Feel III. spring song (2020) | Her final confrontations and the route's resolution. |
Did Saber turn Alter in Fate/Zero? No — here's the misconception
This question comes up constantly, and the answer is a flat no.
Fate/Zero depicts the Fourth Holy Grail War, ten years before Fate/stay night. Artoria serves Kiritsugu Emiya there and is never corrupted. The confusion likely stems from two things: Fate/Zero is where the Grail's contamination is established and Angra Mainyu is revealed, and it is also the darkest-toned entry in the franchise. But the Alter transformation belongs entirely to the Fifth War, and specifically to Heaven's Feel.
How Fate/Grand Order explains her differently
Fate/Grand Order does not adapt the Heaven's Feel transformation. Instead, in the Fuyuki prologue, Artoria has been cursed by the Grail within that Singularity — she received a Grail from Lev Lainur Flauros and was attempting to sustain the burning city by restarting the Holy Grail War. She serves as the prologue's final boss, and once defeated she becomes summonable as an ally.
It is the same corruption concept arriving by a different route: a Grail, a curse, and an Artoria who has stopped protecting people and started ruling them.
Is Saber Alter Evil or Good?
She is a villain in the story she appears in, but the Fate writers have described her as a dark heroine rather than a true villain. The most accurate reading: Saber Alter is Artoria's ideals inverted, not deleted.
The case that she is evil
- She kills without hesitation, including people she once protected, and takes evident satisfaction in it.
- She serves Sakura's destructive agenda willingly rather than under compulsion.
- Her stated philosophy replaces "a king must sacrifice for the people" with "the people exist to be ruled."
The case that she is not
- She is still recognisably Artoria. Her loyalty, discipline and refusal to surrender are unchanged — only their direction has shifted.
- The corruption was done to her, not chosen by her.
- In Fate/Grand Order she fights alongside humanity for the entirety of the story after Fuyuki, with no further corruption required.
The interesting reading is that Saber Alter is what Artoria always feared becoming. Her entire reign was an exercise in suppressing the tyrant she could have been. The mud did not invent that person; it simply stopped her from holding him down.
How Strong Is Saber Alter? Powers, Stats and Excalibur Morgan
Saber Alter is one of the most destructive Servants in the Fifth Holy Grail War, and in Heaven's Feel she dismantles opponents that base Saber could not have handled. Her strength comes from three sources: a rewritten Noble Phantasm, an amplified Mana Burst, and a mana supply with no practical ceiling.
Excalibur Morgan: the corrupted Noble Phantasm
Excalibur — the Sword of Promised Victory — is a holy sword forged by the planet, fuelled by the hopes of mankind. Excalibur Morgan is the same weapon after the mud has been through it. The name references Morgan le Fay, Artoria's half-sister and antagonist in the Arthurian legend, and signals the sword's flip from sacred to cursed.
Excalibur
Golden-white light. A beam of condensed holy energy drawn from the hopes of humanity. Limited by Saber's prana reserves.
Excalibur Morgan
Black and violet light shot through with red. The same mechanism, running on curse instead of hope, and firing far more often.
Mana Burst and her other abilities
| Ability | What it does | Change from base Saber |
|---|---|---|
| Mana Burst | Floods her body and weapon with prana, converting it into explosive kinetic force on impact. | Substantially more violent. The corrupted version is described as black rather than gold, and she can sustain it far longer. |
| Magic Resistance | Nullifies most modern thaumaturgy outright. | Retained. She remains extremely difficult to affect with spellcraft. |
| Riding | Lets her pilot almost any mount or vehicle at expert level. | Retained — and put to memorable use on a motorcycle in Fate/Grand Order. |
| Instinct | Near-precognitive battlefield awareness. | Diminished. The corruption dulls her intuitive caution in favour of aggression. |
| Avalon | The scabbard of Excalibur, granting continuous regeneration. | Not available to her in her Alter state — a significant defensive loss. |
Her weaknesses
She is not invincible, and the trade-offs are real:
- She is dependent on Sakura. Cut the supply line and her greatest advantage disappears.
- She sacrificed agility for force. She fights like a battering ram, not a duellist. Faster opponents can exploit the gaps.
- No regeneration. Without Avalon, damage accumulates.
- She is predictable. Her aggression is a tactical liability against an opponent willing to bait it.
Saber vs Saber Alter: Who Would Win?
Saber Alter wins a straight fight in most scenarios. She hits harder, can fire her Noble Phantasm repeatedly where base Saber can manage it perhaps once, and does not tire. Base Saber's path to victory is a fast, decisive opening — she is quicker, she has Avalon, and she has better battlefield instincts. Drag it out and Saber Alter grinds her down.
| Factor | Saber | Saber Alter | Edge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Raw striking power | Very high | Extreme | Saber Alter |
| Noble Phantasm output | Excalibur — devastating, rarely usable | Excalibur Morgan — comparable, usable repeatedly | Saber Alter |
| Mana supply | Limited by her Master | Effectively unlimited via the Grail | Saber Alter |
| Speed and agility | Exceptional | Reduced | Saber |
| Regeneration | Avalon grants continuous healing | None | Saber |
| Instinct / battle sense | Sharp | Blunted by aggression | Saber |
| Endurance in a long fight | Declines as prana drains | Sustained | Saber Alter |
Saber Alter vs Berserker (Heracles)
This is the fight people actually want to see, and it is the clearest demonstration of what corruption bought her.
Berserker — Heracles — possesses God Hand, a Noble Phantasm that grants him eleven lives and immunity to any attack that has already killed him once. In the Fate route, base Saber cannot solve that problem. Saber Alter does, by simply firing Excalibur Morgan enough times to burn through the stock.
Which episode is it? It is not a TV episode. The Saber Alter versus Berserker fight is in the film Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel II. lost butterfly, released in 2019, animated by ufotable. It is frequently cited among the best-animated sequences in the entire franchise.
Her other notable matchups
| Opponent | Where | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Berserker (Heracles) | Heaven's Feel II. lost butterfly | Saber Alter wins by exhausting God Hand's lives. |
| Rider (Medusa) | Heaven's Feel route | Rider is significantly outmatched in a direct exchange. |
| Archer / Shirou | Heaven's Feel route | Requires a sustained, costly effort to contain her. |
| Ritsuka Fujimaru & Mash | Fate/Grand Order, Fuyuki prologue | Defeated as the prologue's final boss, then joins the party. |
What the fandom actually argues about
Community debate rarely disputes that Saber Alter hits harder. The argument is almost always about framing: whether you are comparing the two under identical Masters, whether Avalon is available, and whether the fight is a single exchange or a war of attrition. Change any of those variables and the answer flips. Under identical conditions with no Grail supply, most of the community leans towards base Saber — which is a useful reminder that Saber Alter's power was never really hers.
Every Saber Alter Appearance: Anime, Movies, Visual Novel and Games
If you are trying to work out which Fate entry to watch or play to actually see her, this is the section you want. She appears in more places than most people expect, but only a handful are essential.

| Fate/hollow ataraxia | Visual novel | 2005 | Recurring appearances | Optional |
| Fate/unlimited codes | Fighting game | 2008 | Playable character | Optional |
| Fate/tiger colosseum Upper | Fighting game | 2008 | Playable character | No |

| Heaven's Feel II. lost butterfly | Film | 2019 | Primary antagonist; Berserker fight | Yes |
| Heaven's Feel III. spring song | Film | 2020 | Final confrontations | Yes |
Which Fate anime has Saber Alter?
The Heaven's Feel film trilogy. That is the direct answer. She does not appear in Fate/Zero, and she does not appear in Unlimited Blade Works — those adapt different routes of the same visual novel, and the Alter transformation is exclusive to the third.
Watch order if you only want the Saber Alter arc
You can technically start with the Heaven's Feel films, but you will miss most of what makes the corruption land. Here is the efficient path:
- Fate/Zero (2011–2012) — establishes Artoria's character, the Grail's contamination and Kiritsugu's history. Two seasons.
- Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works (2014–2015) — establishes the Fifth War's cast and rules. Two seasons.
- Heaven's Feel I. presage flower (2017)
- Heaven's Feel II. lost butterfly (2019) — Saber Alter's showcase.
- Heaven's Feel III. spring song (2020)
Short on time? Unlimited Blade Works plus the three Heaven's Feel films is enough to follow the story. Fate/Zero deepens it considerably but is not strictly required.
Saber Alter in Fate/Grand Order: Complete Servant Guide
In Fate/Grand Order she is listed as Artoria Pendragon (Alter), a 4★ Saber. She has been in the game since launch, and she remains one of the most reliable wave-clearing Sabers available to a free-to-play account.
How to get Saber Alter in FGO
- Availability: permanent. She enters the general summoning pool once you clear the Fuyuki prologue.
- Banner: obtainable from the Story Summon banner at any time, and she receives rate-ups during Saber-focused banners.
- Not limited: there is no window to miss. If you do not have her yet, you will get her eventually.
Kit overview
| Element | Detail |
|---|---|
| Rarity / Class | 4★ Saber |
| Noble Phantasm | Excalibur Morgan — AoE Buster |
| Skill 1 — Mana Burst | Self Buster performance up. Her primary damage amplifier. |
| Skill 2 — Charisma | Party-wide attack up. Low rank, but it stacks multiplicatively with Mana Burst on NP turns. |
| Skill 3 — Intuition | Generates critical stars. The weakest of the three. |
| Class skills | Magic Resistance, Riding |
| Role | AoE burst damage / farming |
| Main weakness | A modest HP pool and no defensive skills. She dies faster than most. |
Skill levelling priority
- Mana Burst — max first. It is the single biggest boost to her Noble Phantasm damage.
- Charisma — second. Weak on its own, but the multiplicative stacking on NP turns is worth it, and the party buff helps in farming comps.
- Intuition — last, or not at all. Even fully levelled it will not reliably guarantee crits.
Is she still worth building in 2026?
Yes, for farming. She is among the strongest 4★ AoE Buster damage dealers in the game, she is free to obtain, and her strengthening quests and Append Skills have kept her relevant. Do not build her as a boss-killer — she has no defensive tools and a single-target Servant will serve you better there.
Saber Alter in the Shinjuku singularity
Her most beloved appearance in Fate/Grand Order is not a battle at all. In the Shinjuku Phantom Incident, Artoria Alter has carved out her own territory after agreeing a mutual truce with Jeanne Alter to leave each other alone. She operates out of a burger shop, rides a motorcycle named Cuirassier Noir, and adopts a stray dog she calls Cavall the Second.
It is the arc that reframed her from antagonist to fan favourite, and it is the reason the Shinjuku outfit is the most heavily merchandised version of the character.
How to Get Saber Alter in Roblox Games
Game data last verified: 16 September 2026Saber Alter has become one of the most sought-after anime-inspired units across Roblox's action-RPG and tower-defence scene. Four games currently feature a version of her, and every one gates her behind serious grinding. Here is what each requires.
| Game | What she is | Unlock method | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sailor Piece | Melee fighting style / weapon | Boss farming for a 1% title plus five material types | Very high |
| Lineage Piece | Weapon (Excalibur Morgan) | Three-phase dungeon grind with a 2.9% rare drop | Very high |
| Anime Vanguards | Secret-rarity support unit | 0.75% conversion chance during a boss event | RNG-dependent |
| Sakura Stand | Spec / ability | Holy Grail War game mode questline | High |
Sailor Piece
Added in the Alter Update, Saber Alter in Sailor Piece is a melee fighting style — sometimes listed as Corrupted Excalibur — built around high burst damage and wide area-of-effect attacks. It is one of the strongest specs in the game and one of the longest grinds.
The process
- Farm Dark Grails. These drop from regular NPCs throughout the game and are the summoning currency for the boss.
- Spawn the boss on Boss Island. Talk to the Boss Spawner NPC and select the Saber Alter / Corrupted Knight entry. Summoning costs Dark Grails plus Money and Gems, with four difficulty tiers available. On Normal the boss has around 750 million HP.
- Grind for the Corrupt Tyrant title. This drops at roughly 1% and is mandatory. Higher difficulties improve drop rates for the rarer materials, so run Extreme if your build can handle it.
- Collect the material set. You will need a Corrupt Crown, several Corruption Cores, Alter Essences, Morgan Remnants, additional Dark Grails and a substantial Gem reserve.
- Turn it in. Head to the right side of Boss Island, climb the hand-shaped rock monument, and interact with the trainer NPC to unlock the style.
- Unlock the F move separately. The ultimate is gated behind the F Move Mastery NPC, found at the opposite edge of Boss Island.
Tip: redeem the current Sailor Piece codes before starting. The Gem cost is the wall most players hit, and codes materially shorten the grind.
Lineage Piece
The newest addition, and the one currently generating the most search traffic. In Lineage Piece the reward is a weapon explicitly named after Excalibur Morgan — some players call it Saber V2 — and the whole grind revolves around a dungeon called Ryuudo Cave. This is late-game content aimed at roughly level 1700.
The process
- Find the seller NPC. Head to Legends Arena Island. The Saber Alter seller sits on the same island where you farm the normal Saber boss.
- Farm Ryuudo Keys. The normal Saber boss drops them at about 7.25%. You need keys to open the dungeon portal, and you will need a stack of them.
-
Clear Ryuudo Cave, all three phases:
- Phase 1 — defeat Medusa for Servant Covenant.
- Phase 2 — survive the dark room while farming Grail Mud from the mobs.
- Phase 3 — defeat the Saber Alter boss (roughly 1.02 billion HP) for Dragon Blood, Dark Mana Core, and the Corrupted Holy Sword.
- Watch for the Corrupted Holy Sword. At about 2.9% it is the rarest required material and almost always the last thing you complete.
- Bank the currency. You also need a large coin total and a gem reserve on top of the materials.
- Buy the weapon from the seller NPC, then complete the Mastery questline from the Mastery NPC on the same island to unlock the ultimate move with its full cutscene.
Efficiency tip: full dungeon clears are always better than partial runs. Servant Covenant, Grail Mud and the Phase 3 drops each come from different sections, so a complete clear progresses every material at once — and several Mastery quests can be completed in the same runs.
Anime Vanguards
Here she is listed as Saber (Alternate), a Secret-rarity support unit. She is not a summon — she is obtained through a corruption mechanic during a dedicated boss event, which makes her one of the more frustrating units in the game to chase.
The process
- Get Saber (King of Knights) — a Mythic unit — from the Special Summon banner, and evolve her.
- Enter the Saber (Alternate) boss event, listed under a name that references her official alias, the Dark-Tainted Tyrant. Solo or co-op both work.
- Place your Sabers next to the enemy spawn. Positioning matters; they must be close enough to be caught by the conversion.
- Reach Wave 15. The AWE mini-boss spawns and converts nearby Sabers into Saber AWE.
- Hope. Each converted Saber carries roughly a 0.75% chance to award Saber (Alternate) immediately as a pop-up. Placing more Sabers means more rolls per run — use the Saber Servant option at the start of the boss rush to maximise attempts.
If she drops, she is yours instantly and you can leave the run. As a support unit she slows enemies within her area, buffs the attack speed of eligible allied units, and is immune to status effects — which makes her a staple in high-end Boss Rush and Raid compositions.
Sakura Stand
Sakura Stand added both Saber and Saber Alter in its Fate update. She is obtained through the Holy Grail War game mode rather than from the standard arrow-and-banner system used for most abilities in the game, which means you are dependent on the mode being active and on surviving it.
Note: Roblox unlock requirements change with almost every update, and drop rates are frequently adjusted. Check the in-game requirement list before committing to any long grind. This guide was last verified on 16 September 2026.
Saber Alter's Design, Outfits and Figures
The armour, and what changed
Takeuchi's design works as a near-inversion of the original. Saber's blue-and-silver armour over a blue dress becomes black plate with dark purple tones and thin blood-red linings. Her skin and hair are noticeably paler. Her eyes shift from green to a cold yellow. Excalibur becomes a black blade with red veining.
The detail that makes it effective is restraint: the silhouette is identical. It reads as the same person wearing the same armour, drained of colour rather than replaced — which is exactly what happened to her.

Her alternate outfits
| Outfit | Source | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Shinjuku / casual | FGO Shinjuku Phantom Incident | Her most popular look by a wide margin — leather jacket, motorcycle, burgers. The version most figures are based on. |
| Santa Alter | FGO Christmas 2015 | A Rider-class festive variant, and the origin of a long-running gag. |
| Summer / maid | FGO seasonal events | Event variants in which she conceals her identity and equipment behind mundane props. |
| Ascension outfits | FGO | Progressive armour changes across her four Ascension stages. |
Saber Alter figures worth knowing about
A naming warning before you shop. ALTER is also the name of a well-known Japanese figure manufacturer. Searching "Alter Saber figure" will return both ALTER-brand figures of the original Saber and figures of Saber Alter from other manufacturers. Check the product photo, not just the title.
| Figure | Line | Notable inclusions | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saber / Altria Pendragon (Alter) Shinjuku Ver. | Nendoroid | Multiple expressions, Excalibur Morgan, hamburger, Cavall the Second; a separate set adds the Cuirassier Noir motorbike | Collectors who want the Shinjuku personality |
| Saber / Altria Pendragon (Alter) Shinjuku Ver. | figma | Three face plates, Excalibur Morgan, hamburger, Cavall the Second, articulated stand | Posing and display |
| Armoured scale figures | Various 1/7 and 1/8 lines | The classic Heaven's Feel black armour | Centrepiece display |
Fan art
Saber Alter is one of the most heavily illustrated characters in the Fate fandom. Pixiv hosts the largest archive of her artwork by a considerable margin. If you are sourcing images for personal use, credit the artist and check their reposting terms — most Japanese illustrators state them clearly on their profile.
Saber Alter: Frequently Asked Questions
Why did Saber turn into Alter?
Saber became Alter in the Heaven's Feel route of Fate/stay night after being consumed by the Shadow — the manifestation of the corrupted Greater Grail, tainted by the curse of Angra Mainyu. The blackened mud overwrote her ideals and re-contracted her to Sakura Matou, turning the King of Knights into the tyrant she had spent her life refusing to become.
Is Saber Alter stronger than Saber?
In raw destructive output, yes. Saber Alter hits harder and has a vastly larger mana supply, because Sakura is linked to the Greater Grail and can feed her almost without limit. She trades agility, Instinct and the healing sheath Avalon for that power, so the honest answer is that she is stronger but more fragile.
Is Saber Alter evil or good?
Neither cleanly. She is a villain in Heaven's Feel and acts with real cruelty, but the Fate writers have described her as a dark heroine rather than a true villain. She is Artoria's ideals inverted rather than erased — the same devotion to rule, stripped of the self-sacrifice that made it noble.
Is Altera the same as Saber Alter?
No. Altera is Attila the Hun, a completely separate Servant with her own origin, appearance and Noble Phantasm. Saber Alter is a corrupted Artoria Pendragon. The names look similar and both appear in Fate/Grand Order, but they share no story and no connection.
How tall is Saber Alter?
She stands 154 cm, roughly 5 feet 1 inch — the same as base Artoria Pendragon. The corruption changed her colouring, her armour and her temperament, but not her physical frame.
What anime is Saber Alter from?
The Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel film trilogy, most prominently II. lost butterfly (2019) and III. spring song (2020). She also appears in Fate/Grand Order -First Order- and several spin-offs. She is not in Fate/Zero or Unlimited Blade Works.
What episode does Saber Alter fight Berserker?
It is not a TV episode. The fight takes place in the film Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel II. lost butterfly, released in 2019 and animated by ufotable. It is widely regarded as one of the best-animated battles in the franchise.
Is Saber Alter in Fate/Zero?
No. Fate/Zero covers the Fourth Holy Grail War, in which Artoria serves Kiritsugu Emiya and is never corrupted. The Alter transformation happens only in the Heaven's Feel route of the Fifth Holy Grail War.
How do you get Saber Alter in Fate/Grand Order?
Artoria Pendragon (Alter) is a 4★ Saber who enters the permanent summoning pool once you clear the Fuyuki prologue. She is not a limited Servant, so she can be pulled from the Story Summon banner at any time and appears on rate-up during periodic Saber banners.
How old is Saber?
Her body stopped aging at fifteen, when she drew Caliburn from the stone. She then reigned for roughly ten years, which places her at around twenty-five in lived experience while still appearing fifteen. As a Heroic Spirit summoned centuries later, the question of her chronological age becomes largely academic.
Is Saber King Arthur?
Yes. In the Fate universe, King Arthur was born a girl named Artoria Pendragon who concealed her sex in order to take the throne. Saber and Saber Alter are the same historical figure — one uncorrupted, one blackened by the Grail.
Why is Saber Alter so popular?
Three reasons compound. Her design is a clean, memorable inversion of one of anime's most recognisable characters. Her Berserker fight is among the best-animated sequences ufotable has produced. And her Shinjuku arc in Fate/Grand Order gave her a warm, funny personality that made her far more than an antagonist.
